is eligible for the Friendly Visitors program?
Seniors must be age 60 or older, homebound, or socially isolated.
Is there a charge to participate in the Friendly Visitors program?
There is no charge. Donations are welcome.
How do I apply to participate?
1. Call us at (510) 763-9017 to begin the process. (Many clients are
referred to our program through family members, social workers, community providers.
Please note that there may be a waiting list).
2. We make a home visit to determine your situation, need, and to explain the
program services. We will ask you to fill out an application at that time.
4. You are then matched with a volunteer.
5. The weekly visit is scheduled.
How can I become a volunteer?
You need to have a real love for people and willingness to help the lonely seniors
in a very meaningful way. Mandarin or Cantonese language skills are required
for volunteers in this Program.
