Diabetes Education Center—promotes
the successful self-management of diabetes by giving participants the knowledge,
skills, tools and support they need to take charge of their health and improve
their clinical outcomes and quality of life. Classes and individual sessions
are offered in Cantonese, Mandarin, or English.
Friendly Visitors program—provides companionship
to homebound, socially-isolated Cantonese or Mandarin speaking seniors
in the Oakland area.
Hong Fook Adult Day Health Care Centers—help
frail elderly and disabled adults maintain or enhance their ability to
live independently and ease the need for family care by providing multi-disciplinary
health services and therapeutic activities in a safe and supportive environment.
Our multilingual staff members speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, and
Vietnamese as well as English.
Hong Lok Senior Center—offers a safe and welcoming
environment for seniors to strengthen their social networks, engage in
stimulating activities and increase their capacity to live independently.
Staff members are bilingual in Cantonese, Mandarin, or English; bilingual
volunteers speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and English.
Registry Services—provides referrals to affordable,
dependable and quality homecare assistance for low-income individuals
who reside in Alameda County and provides employment opportunities for
individuals interested in doing homecare services. We are the only registry
location in the County providing services in Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin,
and Toishanese) for consumers and prospective homecare attendants.
Social Services program—provides information and
referral, language assistance, and naturalization services in Cantonese,
Mandarin, and Toishanese.
Language Access efforts—promote
language access through advocacy at the City and County level as well
as providing training for agencies and organizations on community interpretation,
ethics and practices.
