How can I become a Homecare Attendant and be listed on the Alameda County Registry?
If you are interested in becoming an in-home care attendant and being listed on the registry, you need to follow these three steps:

1. ATTEND ORIENTATION. You must attend an orientation workshop held at any Alameda County registry site. (See list of registry locations at http://www.ac-pa4ihss.org).

Please note that you must bring a valid photo identification to attend.

Family Bridges holds orientations in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin). Please call (510) 839-2270 ext. 203 to reserve your seat. Space is limited to 20 participants.

2. COMPLETE APPLICATION. Once you have completed the orientation workshop, you will be given the application form to fill out.

3. INTERVIEW. Then you must call (510) 839-2270 ext. 203 to make an appointment for an interview. You must bring your completed application, a valid photo identification (see list below), and a signed Social Security card.

Please note that your name on the identification card and Social Security card must be the same. Any differences in spelling or other inconsistencies will disqualify you for employment.

What is considered a valid photo identification?
One of the following must be current (not expired) to be considered valid:

  • California Driver's License or California Identification card
  • Passport
  • U.S. military or other government identification card
  • U.S. Permanent Resident card/Resident Alien card (“green card”)
  • Valid student identification card issued by an accredited college or university
